The general perception is that if you are a Skhosana you are automatically Ndebele, therefore cause a general reaction of puzzlement when you say you are not Ndebele but Zulu. The question then is why is this so? Is it really because there are no Zulu Skhosanas? Surname and nationality is extremely important in African culture.
There are some surnames that fall onto more than one ethnic groups; hence the Dlamini surname is used by both by AmaZulu and AbeSwati. But yet the Skhosana surname seems to be soley associated with the Ndebele people. I wonder why, hence the story.

interesting
well thanks moliehi
This story also impacts on my family as well. I am Swati/Swazi according to my culture but tracking back i discovered that i am not a Swati/Swazi but a Zulu.
U Motha(my last name) and u Motsa a pronounciation in isi Swati is the opposite how abakwa Motha are being pronounced in Natal.
Most of my exentend relatives are Zulu and they live in kwaZulu Natal, where on the other hand i also have relatives abangakwa Motha in Swaziland. This makes me more of an inbetween link or chain that combines the Zulus and the Swazis.
Skhosanas ubathola kakhulu kumandebele ukwedlula thini bakwaZulu. Ngicabanga ukuthi isizathu salokhu kungaba emlandweni wabo abakwaSkhosana, njengoba sazi ukuthi umlando uthi sonke sivela kwaZulu kodwa kwenzeka ukuthi inkosi ekwakunguShaka
Ngalezozinkathi uma izizwe ziyibalekela lenkosi, zibalekela e Africa yonkana ezinye zalezinhlanga kwenzeka ukuthi zithathane ngokomshado, ezinye zase zisishintsha lesisibongo.
Umlando mude futhi ungaba nezingeniso eziningi kuwona kodwa kusengabakhona omunye kule Africa owazi kanconywana kunami ngalomlando.
Ngiyabonga.
